Travel Destination in Pekanbaru city

ALAM MAYANG FISHING GARDEN

About 8 km from downtown and located in H. Imam Munandar street which previously known as Harapan Jaya street, there is a Natural Garden Fishing called Alam Mayang. It is a recreation and pleasure place often visited by, especially those whose fishing as a hobby, because in this place, there are many types of fishes in some ponds. Relax with the family while fishing under the trees and in natural atmosphere is really pleasant experience.


ARENA OF MTQ

Port of Serai was built as a place for commemoration of seventeenth national MTQ in 1994, located on Sudirman protocol street of Pekanbaru and has its own typical potency. In the complex of MTQ area later, there are various form of traditional houses from all regencies or cities. The buildings which have traditional architecture of Malay have very attractive appearences to look at. There is also Laman Bujang Mat Syam in this complex, a place for artists to express their performances every Saturday night which packed in Artistic Market of Artistry Council of Riau. There is also Malay Artistry Academy of Riau, and Bandar Serai Orchestra. At this time, it is being built Closed Theater Buliding in Bandar Serai, a representative and modern place for activities of cultural art.


BAWAH MARKET

Public place which become an object and fascination for visitors in Pekanbaru is a market place, precisely is in Bawah market. After had been burned, the existence of Bawah market was built more representative so that the tourists feels more comfortable while paying a visit. Location of Bawah market is not too large. It is also the oldest market. Many things are sold in the complex of Bawah market which are everyday?s needs, electronic appliances, household equipments, clothes, souvenirs in the form of ceramics. Ceramics which sold here delivered from many top producer nations like Chinese, Taiwan, Hongkong, and Italian at reasonable price.


LAKE LIMBUNGAN

Barrage water which was initially established for irrigating purposes, encircled by hills with bautiful natural sceneries, has its own characteristics for a tourist resort. Because of this potency, later, the place was developed as a tourist resort provided with many facilities and equipments for recreation such as kinds of water bicycles, boats, restaurants, amusements, recreation parks, cottages ect. This recreation area is about 10 km from downtown of Pekanbaru and can reach by public transportations. Not far from here, there is also a location for motorcross racing arena.


MUSESUM AND CULTURAL GARDEN OF RIAU

The museum known as Sang Nila Utama is a building which has traditional architecture of Malay, located on General Sudirman street of Pekanbaru, not far from Simpang Tiga Airport. The museum is opened every day, except Monday and holidays. This museum keeps many artistic objects collection, history and culture area of Riau in general. Next to the museum, there is also a building which much the same characteristic architecture with it, that is Cultural Garden Building of Riau, as a center of various activities of culture and art.


THE GREAT MOSQUE AND MAUSOLEUM OF MARHUM BUKIT AND MAUSOLEUM OF MARHUM PEKAN

The Great Mosque of Pekanbaru which was built in 18 century, represent the oldest mosque in town of Pekanbaru. The mosque which located in District of Senapelan has very attractive traditional architecture. At the same time, this mosque is an evidence of Siak Sri Indrapura kingdom which has been existed in Pekanbaru, that was in a period of Sultan Abdul Jalil Alamuddin Syah (the fourth Sultan) and Sultan Muhammad Ali Abdul Jalil Muazzam Syah (the fifth Sultan).

In this mosque complex area, there is a mausoleum of Sultan Marhum Bukit and Marhum Pekan. Marhum Bukit is the other name of Sultan Abdul Jalil Alamuddin Syah (The Fourth Sultan) who led this kingdom in 1766 - 1780.

In the period of Sultan of Abdul Jalil Alamuddin Syah, Senapelan was determined as the center of Siak kingdom. Under his governance, commercial activities grew rapidly so that the idea to establish the town arised.

However the idea to establish the town was just implemented in the period of Sultan Muhammad Ali Abdul Jalil Muazzam Syah (the son of Abdul Jalil Alamuddin Syah) governed the kingdom. Since that time, precisely in June 23, 1784, the name of Senapelan has not been used any longger and changed with a new name, Pekanbaru.
