As one of the gateway to enter the area of Riau continent, Dumai, at this time begin to be visited by many tourists from many countries in the world, especially those who continuing their journey from Malaka, Malaysia. Dumai city has entirety region of about 1.727,385 km2, with its capital city domicile in Dumai, covering 5 Districts, those are Districts of West Dumai, East Dumai, Bukit Kapur, Medang Kampai and Sungai Sembilan.

Climate
Dumai has tropical climate with rainfall between 200-300 mm/year, with air temperature is about 24’ – 33’ C.

Along with the alteration of Dumai from Administration City status to Municipality Area II of Dumai which its accomplishment is conducted based on regulation No. 16, year 1999, bringing a big influence to rapid development of Dumai city.

Geographically, Dumai city is opposite to Rupat strait and Malacca strait which are international traffic lane of neighbouring state, Malaysia. Besides, Dumai is located in the middle of East coast of Sumatra and also function as a common gate of public transportations through the sea or land.

Kampong Teluk Makmur

Sungai sembilan is located on westside of Dumai city. It has its own characteristics, from Lubuk Gaung to the limit of Regency of Rokan Hilir. By using Pompong ship, sailing through the coast, we will see beautiful sights such as mangrove forests, large area of fertile coastal coconut with abundance harvest. Besides maritime atmosphere, this district also has large forests area with various animals and plants. There are also Protected Forest for wild animals (animal conservation area) to prevent illegal hunting. According to the data, there are about 40 wild tigers in this area. There are also handicraft centers to make Leaf Thatch Roof and relocation place for fresh marine products.


The Windy Of Puak
The Wind of Puak with its beautiful sceneries and cool-fresh air, located on eastside of Dumai. Tropical plants which is also grown here make this area more exotic. Here, people can enjoy variety of foods and beverages while enjoying scenery at the seashore. Tourists can also enjoy Durian fruit which to Dumai society called ?Durian Puak or Pelintung". Typical taste and aroma of the Durian is so arise your appetite.
