Regency of Kampar

Brief History
Regency of Kampar is established in 1949 based on Decree of Military Governor of Central of Sumatra Number : 10/GM/STE/49 November 9, 1949. It is said that the capital regency of Kampar is Pekanbaru with its govermental region are former areas of districs Pelalawan, Pasir Pangaraian, Bangkinang and outside town of Pekanbaru.

In 1956, under the leadership of the regency, H. R. Soebrantas, pursuant to regulation Number : 12 year 1956, that capital regency of Kampar was not Pekanbaru but Bangkinang. The evacuation of this capital of regency from Pekanbaru to Bangkinang was applied on June 5, 1967.

Situation Of Nature
Geographically, Regency of Kampar lays in position 01’00'40’ Paralel North, 00’ 27'00’ Paralel South, 100’28'30’ – 101’14'30’ Longitude East.

Regency of Kampar has regional boundaries as follows
a. northside with Pekanbaru and Regency of Rokan Hilir
b. eastside with Regency of and Regency of Pelalawan
c. southside with Regency of Kuantan Singingi
d. westside with Regency of Rokan Hulu and of West Sumatra province.
Regency of Kampar has entirety region 11.707,64 km2, with capital city domicile in Bangkinang, consists of 13 Districts, those are Districs of Bangkinang, West Bangkinang, Kampar, Tambang, Siak Hulu, Tapung, Kampar Kiri, XIII Koto Kampar, Kampar Kiri Hilir, Tapung Kiri, Tapung Hilir and Tapung Hulu.

Climate
Regency of Kampar has tropical climate with rainfall between 2.00 - 3.00 mm/year. Air temperature of about 22’ – 31’ C.


Travel Destination in Kampar

Balimau kasai
This ceremony is a special tradition for Kampar society in greeting of holy month of Ramadhan. This event is conducted a day before the fasting month. Besides, to express the happiness, this ceremony also represents a symbol of cleaning up of the body. Balimau Kasai itself is a bath by using water mixed with orange or lemon. Kinds of lemon used for bathing are called by people as purut lemon, nipis lemon and kapas lemon. Balimau Kasai or Mandi Potang Balimau is coloured with custom ceremony which contains of sacred unique values. It is conducted in Batu Belah Village as the center place of the event, which is about 58 km from Pekanbaru.

Jami' mosque of Air tiris
This mosque was built in 1901 of the initiative of a moslem scholar called Engku Mudo Sangkal. The mosque is located in Berulak village, Air Tiris, which is about 52 kilo metres from Pekanbaru. The architecture of this mosque represents a combination of Malay style and beautiful Chinese style, with roof level like a pyramid. In mosque wall there are engraving ornament which looks like the same with one of engraving ornaments in Country of Pahang, Malaysia. The tower of this mosque is high enough, made of by wood without using any iron nail. Another unique appearance is that the bottom well of the mosque is located on its terrace. It is said there was a big stone looks like buffalo head which sometimes moves to any place without anyone knows about it. It is said that tourists from Malaysia and Singapore often have a devotional visit to this mosque. Besides traveling, their purpose is to fulfill their will, that is by bathing in well in the mosque terrace. All these travellers usually come a few days after Idul Fitri, or precisely on the Great Day of Fasting Month of Syawal Moon.

Kasang kulim zoo
Located in District of Siak Hulu, it is about 15 km from southern side of Pekanbaru, or about 60 km from Bangkinang. Kasang Kulim zoo is managed by Bina Utama foundation which has many collections such as tiger, elephant, forest cat, water deer, crocodile, porcupine, tapir, many types of monkey and bird, and the other else.



Lake of PLTA Koto panjang
This lake is a barrage functions as activator of power turbine station. The lake with area of about 12.900 of hektares has beautiful natural panorama, with the rows of high hills, grown with various dense kayan woods. This lake is located in Merangin village, West Bangkinang, about 88 km from capital city of Riau province.




Monument of Equator
The existence of this monument represents evidence that Sub District of Lipat Kain, Kampar Kiri is located precisely in equator line. It is said that Earth gravity at the trajectory is decreased, so that the fallen leaves fall very tardy, like cotton is flight by the wind.




Muara takus temple
This temple is one of very important historical heritage in the land of Lancang Kuning. The temple which located in District of XIII Koto Kampar which is about 118 km from Pekanbaru is made of river stone, brick and sand. This temple was built between fourth, seventh, and ninth centuries. Till now, there is no one of experts can be sure when this temple was actually bulit. The measurment of the temple is temple 7 x 7 metres. The complex of this temple is encircled by wall with measurement of 74 x 74 metres, and outside of the temple, there are ground wall of 1,5 x 1,5 kilo metres. In complex, it can be faund also Tua temple, Bungsu temple, Setupa castle, and Palangka. Temple which looks like Acoka temple in India is historical heritage which proves that in this present area had ever been expanded Budha religion that came from India. Besides, although experts of history are not agreed yet, some of them said that this temple represented a real evidence that the Empire of Sriwijaya have been trod here.

Recreation garden of Stanum
Located 1 km of capital center of Bangkinang. Panorama of tiny hills, where a swimming pool with international level in the location. There are also many facilities of beautiful villas, kiosks, restaurants and there are also footpath to get through gaps and hilltops, shaded and encircled by acacia and sungkai trees. The swimming pool is named with Indopura which was built together with by air force of Singapore and Indonesia.

The house of Lontiok
House of Lontiok is a traditional house of Malay of Kampar society. Artistic sides which show relegius nuance reflects a combination of architecture art and religious values. Seeing from the history, architecture masterpiece in anywhere usually close related to the center of power (King). When a king built a palace, hence became the architecture, like Palace of Romawi, that is like also the House of Lontiok where the architecture of the house represents a realization of the glorious of Andiko Ompek Puluo Ompek. We can see many of the House of Lontiok in Belimbing I island and Belimbing II island, Kuok village, District of West Bangkinang. Consequently, this village is specified as village and plantation area for tourism.
