Climate
Dumai has tropical climate with rainfall between 200-300 mm/year, with air temperature is about 24’ – 33’ C.
Along with the alteration of Dumai from Administration City status to Municipality Area II of Dumai which its accomplishment is conducted based on regulation No. 16, year 1999, bringing a big influence to rapid development of Dumai city.
Geographically, Dumai city is opposite to Rupat strait and Malacca strait which are international traffic lane of neighbouring state, Malaysia. Besides, Dumai is located in the middle of East coast of Sumatra and also function as a common gate of public transportations through the sea or land.
